Summer Writing and Frolics!
Hello, again! I hope you’re enjoying August. Summer in the UK took a while to get going, but now that it’s here, I’ve been making the very most of it. I’ve never found it easy to stay inside if the sun’s shining, so here’s a taste of what I’ve been up to this summer, as well as - at the very end of this post - a request.
Firstly, I’m very happy to say that I’ve successfully managed to submerge myself in my writing again. Hurrah! I’ve been going to my local library to write, arriving at about 8.15am and staying until just before it opens at 10.00am. Because it’s the school holidays, I mostly have it to myself at that time, and it’s fabulous. So great for intense concentration without distractions. It’s all in my notebook - I’m not attempting to type it up just now. Scenes that I’m compelled to write, not necessarily in any order. It feels like I’ve come home.
I mentioned in my previous post that I performed stand-up comedy as a part of the evening entertainment at the Primadonna Festival, where I was on a panel. I’ve been sharing extracts of this on Instagram, and it’s been pretty well-received, so I thought I’d post those videos on here too. I certainly want to do it again. I loved it, even while I felt terrified! By the way, if you don’t already follow me on Instagram, please do! It’s by far my favourite place to post what’s going on in my life. You can find me on Instagram here.
Here are a few of the other things I’ve been doing this summer. Some I’m more of a natural at than others.
Hopefully, there’s lots more fun to come before the summer’s over!
Right, now to my plea. If you’ve read Prickly Company, or Five Winters come to that, I’d be SO grateful if you’d leave a review on Amazon if you haven’t already done so. (If you have, thank you, thank you, thank you)! Reviews make such a difference to writers, not least because it assures us we aren’t just writing into a void. Plus, I’ll be eternally grateful.
Here are the links to take you straight to the relevant Amazon page for you. PRICKLY COMPANY FIVE WINTERS.
Thanks so much!
